Our Mission

The First United Methodist Church Watertown, New York is a member church of the Upper New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. It's Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 

We strive to follow the Three Simple Rules of the Founder of the Methodist Movement - John Wesley: “Do No Harm, Do Good, Stay in Love with God.” We invite you to journey with us as we strive to be God’s love to our Neighbor at all times and places. 

 In addition to Sunday worship and weekly prayer services, we offer a wide range of ministries and outreach programs for the community. We help people of all ages and backgrounds transform their lives through Christ.

Weekly Service

Our worship group meets every Sunday. We worship and study God so he can shape us into the people we want to be.

Blessing Box

In front of our Church is a stocked Blessing Box where neighbors can access nonperishable foods 365 days a year.

FUMCW – Serves the Community as a Host Site for 9 AA Meetings.

A Little Child Will Lead Us

A little Child Will Lead Us, (ALCWLU), is a New Faith Community within the First United Methodist Church. We support parents in the joyful but challenging task of raising young children.

About the Pastor

Pastor Anne Canfield has been an ordained United Methodist Clergy member for 34 years. She received a BA in psychology from the University of Delaware in 1982 and a Master of Divinity Degree from Harvard Divinity School in 1987.

She has served churches in Northeastern, PA and Upstate New York, and is a member of the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pastor Anne has extensive experience in grief counseling/hospice care,  working on issues of food insecurity and homelessness. Her passion is working with young families and doing child advocacy as a ministry of outreach and social justice. Pastor Anne is married with three adult children who reside in PA.

She and her husband Larry enjoy the companionship of their two beloved beagles.
